ABOUT MAESTRO MASTERCLASSES

THE DIRECTOR
Hi! I'm Dr. Silas Huff, Director of Maestro Masterclasses. I attended my first conducting workshop over 25 years ago and immediately became obsessed with the format. I love immersing myself in amazing repertoire with great mentors, hearing different perspectives on making music, and building connections with my peers. As a young conductor, I attended as many workshops as I could afford, and when my career took off, I started organizing them...mostly as a service for the next generation of conductors, but also for myself. Even as a professional conductor and teacher, I continue to learn at every workshop.
I have organized 50+ workshops around the world (New York, San Francisco, Chicago, Boston, Washington DC, Austin, Boulder, Berlin, Czech Republic...), and I pride myself on the quality and organization of my workshops. I offer the most podium time possible, great teachers, desirable locations, and lowest tuition possible. I also invite guest speakers like artist managers, orchestra administrators, and others who know the business side of our profession.

I've made some of my best friends and developed close relationships with mentors at workshops, and I sincerely hope you will, too. See you at a Maestro Masterclass workshop soon!

Musically yours,
Silas
WHAT WE DO
Maestro Masterclasses are designed to help conductors at every level of their development master the art of conducting. These intensive programs focus on four key pillars:

1. Honoring the score through serious study
2. Clear, efficient baton technique
3. Informed body awareness and refined gestures
4. Expressive, emotional music-making.
Students also learn business aspects of the profession, meet orchestra administrators, network, and learn to navigate the unique challenges of the conducting world. Whether you're an experienced conductor or just starting your journey, our workshops help you elevate your craft, understand the industry, and unlock the full potential of the musicians you lead.
